The ball end mill is the absolute workhorse in 3D surface machining:
3D surface/relief processing: sculpting characters, animals, patterns, logos, and all other complex three-dimensional shapes. This is its primary use.
Surface finishing: After roughing, use a ball end mill for smoothing to achieve a smooth surface quality.
Mold cavity machining: Machining the cavities of molds such as injection molds and die-casting molds, which are mostly curved surfaces.
Concave surface machining: Machining of grooves with a circular arc shape inside.
Contouring: Cutting along the contour of a curved surface.
