Cleaning Corners
This is the most classic application of column knives. After milling the cavity with a larger flat bottomed cutter, a circular arc (with a radius equal to the tool radius) will be left at the inner right angle of the part. By using a cylindrical knife with a taper that matches the internal angle and a smaller diameter, sharp inner right angles can be perfectly cleaned.
Fine carving of text and patterns
The taper design makes the cutting tool strong and not easy to break, making it very suitable for carving small characters and complex shapes. By controlling the carving depth, the thickness of strokes can be naturally formed using the taper.
mold processing
In mold manufacturing, it is often necessary to process cavities with draft angles (demolding angles). By using a column cutter with the same angle as the draft angle, the side wall can be precision machined in one go, ensuring accurate angles.
Rough and precision machining of three-dimensional reliefs
In woodworking reliefs and advertising carvings, column knives can be used for contour drawing and fine finishing of specific areas.
