Precautions for Using Ball Mills
发布时间:2026-04-02
When using ball-end mills, pure tip cutting is strictly prohibited as it results in zero centerline speed, leading to overheating and edge chipping. Side-edge cutting should be employed instead. Ensure the tool is clean and free of oil during clamping, control the overhang length to minimize vibration. For steel machining, use TiAlN-coated tools, while for aluminum alloy, opt for tools with a large helix angle. Set cutting parameters appropriately, ensuring speed, feed, and material compatibility, while avoiding excessive depth and step-over. Use climb milling and oblique entry to prevent direct plunging into the workpiece. Maintain thorough cooling and lubrication throughout the process, promptly remove chips to prevent adhesion. Regularly inspect tool wear; replace immediately if edge chipping or abnormal noise occurs. Secure the workpiece firmly, ensure smooth tool paths without abrupt changes, reduce cutting impact, and guarantee machining accuracy along with tool longevity.
