Flat bottomed sharp knives are mainly used for woodworking carving and slotting of boards, with the core meeting the dual requirements of cutting at the tip and trimming the bottom plane. The cutting tool is divided into three parts: the tip cone section, the cylindrical straight shank, and the flat bottom cutting edge. The tip adopts a conical narrowing design, and the cone angle is set according to the hardness of the processing material to reduce the cutting resistance, making it easy to quickly insert the board and achieve fine small characters and deep relief carving.
The end of the cone segment is connected to a straight bottom edge, which remains horizontal. This is the "flat bottom" core, and when carving the bottom surface, a smooth and step free machining surface can be milled to avoid leaving circular arc residue at the bottom of ordinary cone cutters. The side blades are arranged in a spiral pattern along the conical surface, and the chip discharge groove is shallow and narrow, suitable for the fine crushing characteristics of wood chips. When rotating at high speed, the chips are quickly exported to prevent sticking and burning of the blade.
The handle of the knife has a unified cylindrical standard size to ensure the concentricity of clamping and reduce machining vibration. The tool material is made of hard alloy, taking into account both the wear resistance of the cutting edge and the fracture resistance of the bottom edge. The cone angle and bottom edge width match each other: the large bottom edge is suitable for large-area flat milling, and the narrow bottom edge is used for fine lines. By combining the taper and flat bottom edge, hole punching, side wall carving, and bottom surface leveling can be completed in one cutting, simplifying the carving process and improving processing accuracy and efficiency.
